Around 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the state, bringing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.

Residents observed large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that multiple regions across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, approximately one thousand households in the southern state also encountered power outages after Melbourne experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations handled over five hundred emergency reports across the region, mostly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At one point on the previous day, over 28k electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk expected across various areas of both areas.

Health officials cautioned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
