Several Hurt as Turbulence Hits A Delta Airlines Aircraft into Sydney, Australia
Several people have been injured when a Delta jet from LA to Sydney was hit by rough air Friday morning.
The flight, numbered 41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it landed at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier stated. Several cabin crew members required medical attention.
Emergency medical services stated they treated a total of five people, and transferred a trio to the hospital with minor injuries that comprised pain in the back and headaches. The injured were between their 30s to 70s.
This marks the newest example of planes encountering turbulence, with aviation specialists indicating that shifting climate patterns is a key driver.
On board were 245 passengers and a crew of 15 on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson said, adding that the plane touched down "safely" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday morning.
Paramedics reported they were alerted just only 180 seconds before the plane arrived, and response teams were waiting on the tarmac.
