Blues Boss Maresca Dismisses Man City Links as '100%' Gossip
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has labelled fresh reports linking him with a return to Manchester City as "100% speculation".
The Italian manager, who once served as Pep Guardiola's assistant at the Etihad, responded to the ongoing rumours about his next move.
Maresca, named Chelsea boss in the summer of 2024, is under contract that runs through the end of the decade, with a potential extra year option.
"It doesn't bother me at all because I know that is completely unfounded," Maresca stated. "And at this moment, there is little room for such distractions."
He further elaborated, "First of all, because I have a contract here for several more years. And my focus, I have stated many times, is solely on this club and I'm honoured to be here. But again, it's speculation. One week ago I was linked with a role in Italy with Juventus. So I ignore it because I know that is without foundation."
Chelsea, currently sitting in fourth position in the Premier League, are scheduled to face Newcastle United this Saturday in a 12:30 GMT kick-off.
Strain After Previous Comments
Maresca's latest statement come in the wake of he referred to a previous 48-hour period as his "worst" since arriving at Chelsea.
Those original words had sparked considerable talk of a possible disagreement between the coach and the club's key decision-makers.
When asked if he had discussed matters with the Chelsea's leadership, Maresca replied, "We are in the same facility, so we talk about different things. But about the post-Everton press conference, no."
The manager however affirmed he would definitely stay at the club next season and urged supporters to "continue to support the team".
In brighter news, Maresca revealed that sidelined forwards Liam Delap and Estevao Willian could be back ahead of schedule, potentially available for a match against Aston Villa later this month.

The apparent strain between Maresca and the club's hierarchy remains as an unhealed issue that still create unease.
While there has been no further escalation of the matter publicly, there has equally been no apology offered, leaving the matter unaddressed.
